Queridos compañeros: Going back for the last days of December: I spent Christmas with my sister in the sunny island of Malta where she has been living for the past few years. In Malta we spent two days of preparing food for our Finnish Christmas dinner and got the chance to celebrate our Christmas Eve surrounded by my sister’s friends and colleagues. Because Finnish people abroad always carry with them a proper stash of salmiakki, Fazer chocolate and rye bread, we missed absolutely nothing. After a great week in Malta I came back to celebrate New Year here in Mallorca. New Year has always been kind of a moment of truth for me. It’s the night when I start thinking about the past year, achievements, expectations, adventures and challenges... ¡Hola y feliz año nuevo! Aquí estoy de nuevo, contándoos mis últimas experiencias. El final del año estuvo bien. Justo antes de navidad hicimos una fiesta con el equipo del CUC y  l@s   becari@s  en una finca al lado de Portals Nous celebrando Navidad y Año Nuevo antes de irme a Italia. ¡Muchas gracias por organizarla, chic@s! Nadie excepto mis padres sabía que iba a volver, ¡así que todo el mundo se emocionó al verme! Me quedé solo tres días pero fueron muy intensos e hice de todo. Pasé el mayor tiempo posible con mi familia (y también un poco con mi perro). Me alegró mucho ver mis padres, tíos y primos, a la gente del pueblo y poder caminar por los bosques, los prados y las montañas de mi infancia. Estar en la naturaleza me relaja, siempre me siento más feliz y en armonía con el mundo. Caminar me permite eliminar el estrés y cargarme de energía positiva, ¡así que luego me siento de buen humor! Es año nuevo ya en nuestro proyecto. Enero... significa que la mitad del proceso está terminado y que queda la otra mitad. Ya tenemos experiencia con el tiempo que llevamos: tres meses en Mallorca. A partir de aquí se nos abre otra línea en nuestras mentes. Enero comenzó cambiando ciertas cosas. El día 2 volví al ICE. Después de las vacaciones fue un poco difícil, ¡pero hay que volver con muchas ganas! Me gustaría contaros nuestro viaje a Palma, organizado por Baldo. Paseamos por las calles, viendo los rincones antiguos y los más nuevos. También paramos en la cafetería más antigua, “Ca'n Joan de s'Aigo!” (¡¡¡desde 1700!!!), tomamos cafés, comimos pasteles... ¡Chao, amigos! Half way through the program! In December Christmas passed like a good old friend, who stops by for a short visit and promises to return back next year. In the spirit of “Calvià in Europe", we created some Finnish-Italian-Georgian treats in our fusion kitchen and invited friends to join us before everyone escaped to celebrate Christmas on their own way. December also gave us the possibility to travel and explore Spain a bit more with our peers. Since we have got this feeling of running out of time, we have started making lists of must see stuff that is... umm... must see. So many things, so little time: challenge accepted. Despite the adventures behind and ahead and everything else that I am looking forward with excitement, I have to confess that my heart truly beats to my project in the perrera of Calvià. ¡Hola, amigos y amigas! Another month is over and I am beginning to think about the end of this adventure. I know it sounds sad, but I am at the turning point (3 months behind and 3 ahead), so it's time to make a summary of this experience in order to enjoy more every little moment that is still waiting for me. There have been some highlights in this period. First of all, I decided to live totally this Spanish experience so that I won't have any regrets looking back; that's why I have planned some tours around the country, also in order to dive deeply into the Spanish culture. After all, knowing the community and the culture is part of the EVS aim! The work in the elderly centre has been crazy lately: we had the Week for the Elimination of Violence against Women, so we organised different activities to engage the guests of the centre in such a valuable event. ¡Hola! Otro mes ha pasado y ¡tengo novedades! Primero, los cuatro nos quedamos una semana en Palma para hacer el “Curso de Formación a la Llegada” con l@s voluntari@s que están en Menorca. Al principio pensaba que iba a ser algo muy aburrido, como sentarnos todo el día escuchando a gente que habla sobre temas complicados y no tenía muchas gana de ir. ¡Al final quería quedarme otra semana por todo lo que me ha molado! Más que un curso ha sido unas vacaciones: jugamos, reímos y aprendimos de manera muy divertida, siempre activos y nunca aburridos. Hice tantas migas con l@s que conocí que incluso fui a visitarlos, ¡aprovechando del puente entre 6 y 8 de Diciembre! Menorca es preciosa, completamente diferente a todo lo que he visto en Mallorca. Me encantó dar una vuelta por el centro y el puerto de Mahón y Ciutadela así como ir al faro de Punta Nati, con su paisaje salvaje y el viento que nunca cesa de soplar. ¡Saludos, amigos! To celebrate the very first days of November, I went back to Helsinki to meet my family and friends. It's been a few days in the dark Northern European climate. When I returned to Mallorca, I felt like summer was back. Playas , sol , pura vida ! With red, tired eyes I woke up in the following morning after my night flight, just to notice at the bus stop that the schedules had changed for winter and there was no eight o’clock morning bus to Santa Ponsa anymore. I waited for my good old 104-limousine for an hour, arrived to my escoleta late and felt a bit bad for it, but as soon as I opened the door to my class, the little ones made sure that I was awake anytime soon and busy with their joy and sorrow again.
