Merry Christmas, 3 months now in Spain, Delia


¡Hola, amigos y amigas!

Another month is over and I am beginning to think about the end of this adventure. I know it sounds sad, but I am at the turning point (3 months behind and 3 ahead), so it's time to make a summary of this experience in order to enjoy more every little moment that is still waiting for me.


There have been some highlights in this period. First of all, I decided to live totally this Spanish experience so that I won't have any regrets looking back; that's why I have planned some tours around the country, also in order to dive deeply into the Spanish culture. After all, knowing the community and the culture is part of the EVS aim!







The work in the elderly centre has been crazy lately: we had the Week for the Elimination of Violence against Women, so we organised different activities to engage the guests of the centre in such a valuable event. We made an artwork with all their hands saying 'stop violencia' and even a lazo humano representing the symbol of the social campaign. I think that I will bring with me the willingness and the spirit of all those abuelitos everywhere life will drive me.


'Time flies when you're having fun', that's why Christmas is coming very fast. All look sweet and nice almost everywhere. The streets are illuminated by colourful lights and lots of funny Santa Clauses can be seen climbing roofs or fences. The city is so romantic and the atmosphere, the smells and the songs make me come back to my childhood. This Christmas time was waited eagerly to organise parties and to decorate the house. So also here we managed to make a small Christmas tree and an amusing international dinner at our place with some friends.





A period a bit tiring, but satisfying. 'Cause home is not where you have roots, but where you can find your dimension'.

Hi! This past month I have not written blog because I went to Christmas to Spain and I have not spent much time here. At the beginning of December I was able to visit the Christmas tree that they put next to the cathedral every year, next to a small Christmas market where I bought a couple of things to give to my family. Now in January I have returned, and in the kindergarten there have been two news volunteer girls, from another organization, who come to spend with us 6 weeks, they are from Hungary and Ukraine, they are very nice, and another new volunteer girl has also come from Turkey but she is from my organization, and lives with me, and will be with us all year. These days in the kindergarten we have done some activities since we are quite a few volunteers, for example we have made bracelets with colored threads, we have made origami forms with colored papers, etc. and I wanted to show them a Mallorcan tradition that is celebrated on January 16, where pe

¡Hola, guapos y guapas! I hope that your last month was as nice as mine and that you are enjoying reading our blog and participating a bit in our Mallorca life! January has been full of emotions. I am going to tell you some highlights in a very short way. My 2019 started at high speed: in my free time I continued visiting around both the island and the peninsula. Madrid has been a discovery because I didn't expect at all that it's such a fascinating city. I will go back there for sure! I also took the chance of exploring the neighborhood that let me change my mind again about Mallorca: it's even more wonderful than I already thought. This island has so many different landscapes and views, so nice pueblitos and so friendly people. My last days in Mallorca, Anna

¡Hola a todo el mundo! The very last Mallorca days are here! I have packed my belongings, printed my ticket (almost) and started to head my thoughts to the fact that I’m soon back home again. The last few weeks have been really hectic and full of adventures. We travelled across Spain from Valencia to Sevilla, continuing to Cadiz, with a quick stop in Málaga, a monkey business break at Gibraltar, a brief visit in Santander and last but not least, Bilbao. For a person with a museum background, the possibility of finally visiting Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is magnificent! Now I can leave all my Guggenheim traumas behind. I have been there, I have seen it, and I’ve liked it. Besides the adventures, these few last weeks have also been full of goodbyes. I broke my heart while saying goodbye to my escoleta and to my group. I will remember every one of them and carry the memory of their laugh, energy and enthusiasm with me.
