Calvià In Europe

¡Hola a todos! Soy Michele de Italia y llevo viviendo en Mallorca casi tres meses. Por supuesto, esto no es como estar en mi país, pero ahora la sensación es muy similar. Las personas son muy parecidas a los italianos en el modo de hacer y de pensar. Como es natural, cuando empecé el proyecto sentí un choque cultural, pero terminó pronto. La cultura es muy interesante y las personas, aunque no todas, son muy simpá ticas . Cuando llegué aquí descubrí algo interesante que no esperaba, y es que mi nombre (que se pronuncia 'Mikele' para los españoles) es muy inusual, lo cual me parecía un poco raro, porque es muy común en mi país. Aquí me llaman Miquel, que está bien, o Michelle, que aquí es nombre de chica… pero me lo paso bien y mis compañeros y yo nos reímos mucho. Siempre hay un intercambio cultural :D. ¡Hola a todos! ¡Intentaré contaros lo mejor posible mi maravillosa experiencia como voluntario en Calvià! Todo esto acompañado de fotos de anécdotas :). Primero quería hacer una pequeña presentación: mi nombre es Steven, tengo 19 años y vivo en San Antonio de Abad, en la ciudad de Nápoles. Mis aficiones son el arte, la politica y los temas sociales. Me eligieron como voluntario en Calvià para un SVE de 8 meses. El de Calvià es un ayuntamiento de Mallorca (Islas Baleares), que es una isla muy bonita, llamada "la perla del Mediterráneo". Vivimos en Palmanova, que está a 20 minutos de Palma, ¡la ciudad mas grande de la isla! Mallorca me gusta mucho, su naturaleza y cultura me acuerdan mucho a las de Italia... por lo tanto, NO CULTURAL SCHOCK ! It has been two months since I am on this beautiful Spanish island. It is a life filled with adventure, evolution, learning, personal growth and incredible people, but also filled with uncertainty, fears and doubts. We are 4 volunteers: Anita from Hungary, Steven and Michele from Italia and me from France. My favorite moment during my week: I really like having the opportunity to spend all my Wednesday mornings with children in the age of a few months to 3 years. These days are adorably endearing, filled with joy and so much fun. This was my first Christmas away from family; it was very strange but enriching being able to immerse myself during an evening with Manon's family. It was a fireside evening with this welcoming family. 28 December: I took the plane to France to be able to meet my family and my friends for 6 days. I resumed volunteering here in the 3 rd of January with the heart full of love. Here and now begins a new year. See you soon

Sziasztok! Time flies really fast, we are already here in Mallorca for more than 2 months. By now we have got used to life here and we have adapted some habits that are different in our culture (for example, giving kisses when we say hello starting on the left side instead of the right, eating dinner and going to bed later, getting up later, and of course sometimes having siestas although it can also be pretty irritating that everything closes after lunch and I can’t go to the shops whenever it comes to my mind that I need something...). We are learning a lot about different cultures, different ways of life, and of course, about ourselves. I like it very much that we are volunteering in different departments of the Ayuntamiento every day of the week, because we can try ourselves out in various situations, plus we don’t get bored with doing the same work for 8 months. On Mondays we have an interlinguistic workshop in the CUC (Snacks&Languages) where we usually practice
